The past two days had been hell on wheels, from falling off a cliff, racing down a rapid stream, to encountering a cannibal, and barely clinging to their own realities, the two had barely survived. Sleeping in a dreary cave provided little comfort, but provided a sense of security as the wounded Pokemon finally got a chance to rest their heads. The fire had burned all night and now crackled softly as the morning sun arose slowly over the horizon. Rising up from his resting place like a vampire out of a coffin, Matt rubbed his eyes and yawned loudly.
"Gotta go." Matt said groggily as he stood to his feet and wobbled out of the cave in a morning haze.
Finding a nearby tree outside the cave, Matt quickly relieved himself and slowly padded back into the cave, using his wrapped arm to lower himself back to the ground, slowly closing his eyes.
"Ahh…arm doesn't hurt anymore." Matt said with a refreshing breath as he once again closed his eyes and snuggled into his bed.
No sooner did he close his eyes did he once again shoot them back open. Sitting up in a flurry, Matt looked down at his arm in disbelief.
"Arm doesn't hurt. Arm doesn't hurt?" Pikachu stammered, "ARM DOESN'T HURT!"
Moving over his body, Matt began to realize that all of his injuries had miraculously healed! The cuts on his face, down to the broken bones in his arm had all been healed! Matt jumped to his feet and dashed over to Nathan, shaking him roughly.
"Bui! BUI! Wake up!" Matt spoke in excitement.
"Huh? You want some too?" Nathan said in a groaning voice as he punched the air in front of him.
"Idiot. Even fighting in your sleep?!" Matt asked in an irritated yell as he shook Nathan by the collar roughly, smacking his face a few times back and forth.
"Umf…Wha? Huh?! Are we being attacked?!" Nathan said in surprise as he held up a chunk of rock his fist, eyes still shut from slumber.
"No, no, no! Listen!" Matt replied in a hurry.
"I was dreaming that we made it to the Pokemon center and Ty and all the others were there and they threw us a big "Welcome back" party and there were balloons, and games, and cake, but you ate it all. But Ty forgot to get the ice cream so he had to walk all the way back, and by the time he got back we were all in a pool that seemed to appear out of nowhere, except for Chaze and Corey. We were all having fun until you started teasing Chaze about the water and started to try to pull him in, but then Rikka got all mad and froze your face! But anyway, all the water made me have to pee so I woke up and went to go outside, and when I came back inside the cave something amazing happened! All my wounds had healed and I was freaking out! So I came over to wake you and I almost got punched in the face because you were fighting in your sleep. But I woke you up and you started freaking out and…you still have a rock in your hand by the way. You woke up and you asked if we were being attacked and here we are now." Matt said in a super-fast excited manner.
"……………what?" asked Nathan barely awake, looking at Matt as if he was crazy.
Matt sighed and took a deep breath as he once again started to ramble.
"I had a dream that we made it to the Pokemon center and Ty and all the others were…" Matt began again.
Nathan swiftly put a paw in Matt's face to shush him then rubbed his eyes with the other, still barely coherent.
"Stop. Short version." Nathan said, rubbing his eyes with his finger and thumb.
"Just watch!" Matt exclaimed.
Matt removed his bandages around his arm, and began to remove it from its cast as Nathan's eyes opened in surprise. Matt then drew back his fist and punched the wall with enough force to create a crack in the solid stone. Nathan sat with his mouth agape, wordless at the sight before him. Indeed Matt had made a full recovery…but how? Not a few hours ago were they mangled and broken seemingly beyond repair.
"What in the world? Last time I checked, broken limbs tend to stay broken for a while." Nathan said in a confused tone.
"That's what I'm saying! Every bone, every bruise, everything on me has been totally healed! I mean, I still have scratches and cuts over most of my body, but besides that, everything is better!" Matt sputtered.
Nathan ran his hands down his body and found that he too had been adequately healed. His arm no longer ached from the dislocation the previous night, and most of his deep lacerations had been closed. His hand checking his body, it came to the small rock around his neck; the Lugia's Tear he had received from Chuck.
"Could it have been these? Could they have really healed us that quickly?" Nathan asked himself.
"I feel better than I have ever felt!" Matt said happily as he stood on one hand and did a few push-ups before flipping back onto his feet.
"You know what this means right?" Matt asked in a happy tone.
"What?" Nathan questioned.
"We can start heading back now!" Matt said with a smile on his face.
"He's right. If we're feeling better, there really is no other reason for us to stay here." Nathan thought.
Nathan pondered on the situation and agreed that it would be a good to time to start working their way back, but something in the back of Nathan's head felt like things were being rushed. However, seeing the smile on Matt's face caused him to put that feeling aside.
"Alright, lets' go." Nathan declared.
"Yes!" Matt cheered, jumping into the air.
Matt leapt in excitement, rearing and ready to get out of the dank and dark cave and get some fresh air. He stood with his chest out like a soldier and began to march happily out of the cave.
"Freeze!" Nathan called out, having Matt freeze in mid-step.
"Do you even know where we are going?" Nathan asked with a blank expression.
Matt said nothing, but stood frozen as a bead of sweat ran down the back of his head.
"Holy shit! You don't, do you?!" Nathan roared, clenching his fists. "You were just gonna keep walking until you found the right road like you always do! IDIOT!!"
"It's better than just staying here and doing nothing!" Matt yelled back, throwing his fists in the air.
"I told you that I know where we are going, moron! We have to go down the valley, climb up the cliff and follow the river!" Nathan screamed out.
"Well fine Mr. all-knowing compass, you lead the way!" Matt said sarcastically as he places his hands in front of him, inviting Nathan to lead.
"Good." Nathan huffed as he stepped in front of him and began to walk down the hill.
Matt rolled his eyes as he followed the short-tempered Buizel.

It was there, just as Chuck said. At the end of the valley there indeed was a huge slope. At first glance the slope seemed it would be an easy task, but as the two began to work their way up, it became very clear that it no simple climb. The incline was more of a slide of rubble than a cliff. Eroded rocks and silt from wind damage had practically made the slope a staircase of sand! One wrong move and you would be headed for the bottom.
"RAHHH! It's like the world is just trying to screw us over!" Nathan growled as he slipped again and slid down to the very bottom, his efforts going to waist.
"Just try to…umf…find a sturdy rock and…mff… work your way up slowly." Matt struggled to respond as he slowly crept up the side of the slope.
"Stupid sand!" Nathan grumbled as he kicked a rock up at the slope, but the resulting collision caused the ground Matt was clinging to to give way and send him sliding down once more.
Matt turned his head slowly and gave Nathan a hardy glare of impatience, and immediately Nathan shut his mouth.
"Whoops?" Nathan said in an embarrassed tone.
"Just think of this as another form of special training, ok? The soft dirt requires to you to dig your feet in and climb slowly, but using all your muscles builds up your strength." Matt explained, trying to coax Nathan into giving it another try.
"Hmm…" Nathan said as he scratched his chin and then dug his feet into the side of the cliff.
"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!" Nathan roared as he slammed his claws and feet into the side of the slope and trudged his way up in a flail of overexertion.
As predicted, he once more slid to the bottom and right back next to Matt.
"Fail." Nathan said with an irritated voice.
Matt face-palmed and shook his head at the hard headed Buizel. But then an idea popped into Matt's head that made him think that just maybe this was possible.
"BUI! I got an idea!" Matt shouted.
"Hmm?" Nathan sighed.
"Use your Water Gun on the sand!" Matt said in a rush.
"Of course!" Nathan shouted back in a look of realization.
Nathan took a few steps back then threw back his head as he sprayed a blast of water from his mouth, coating the side of the slope with a heaping helping of liquid. Nathan held out for as long as he could, trying to dampen every which way of the side they needed to scale, until his water gun petered out into a trickle.
"There…that's all I got. That enough?" Nathan asked, panting a little.
"Perfect. Now with the sand a bit thicker, we should be able to grip more and make better progress!" Matt said in a confidant tone.
"Here we go." Matt said as he dug one fist full into the side of the slope, finding it a bit stickier.
Matt gradually began to make his way up, with Nathan not far behind him, not wanting to be outdone. As the two began to get into a rhythm, Nathan met up beside Matt on the cliff and looked over to him. A confidant smirk grew to the edges of his cheeks as he looked to the chu in pride.
"Last one up is a Slowbro!" Nathan yelled he began to pick up speed.
"Bui! Don't go to fast or you'll…" Matt began, noticing how dangerous this was.
Cockiness getting the better of him, Nathan lost his grip on the side of the slope and began to fall backwards toward the ground. Nathan yelled out in panic as he began to plummet to the earth below. As the solid earth began to get closer and closer, Nathan clenched his eyes shut and prepared for the pain. However, the pain never came. Nathan looked up to see Matt holding onto his arm. Nathan's eyes widened in disbelief; he had caught him! Matt was risking falling himself to save him? Nathan couldn't understand it.
"So…heavy…take it easy…on the candy…" Matt said in a struggle.
"I'M NOT THAT HEAVY!!" Nathan yelled back with a blush on his face.
Matt began to rock his arm back and forth, and with a bit of a grunt, threw Nathan back to the side of the wall. Nathan reached out and grasped the wall firmly, not wanting to fall again. After finding a good hold, he looked back to Matt.
"I…I didn't ask for your help. I could have caught myself!" Nathan yelled.
"Yeah; at the bottom" Matt smirked.
"Shut up, Loser!" Nathan yelled back frowning, but with a giant blush on his face.
"Ok. Let's try this again, but this time slower!" Matt commanded.

The sun beat down on them harshly. It was definitely not a day to be scaling a wall. The two began to sweat; beads of liquid running down their brows and dripping off their chins. As the two finally made it to the top, they flopped over the edge and onto their backs. Gasping for air and spitting out spit-balls of sand they had accumulated along the climb, the two Pokemon laid back and stared at the sky.
"If I recall, falling down that mountain was a LOT faster than climbing up it." Nathan said breathless.
"We can rest here for a bit and then start heading toward the river." Matt responded as he plopped over onto his stomach, sticking his tongue out.
As the two lay there, the only sounds that could be heard were their heavy breathing slowly beginning to soften, and the distant caw of a Fearow flying over. Now Nathan finally had some time to stop and think. A lot had happened. Despite falling off a cliff, discovering he had powers he was still not himself aware of, and being lost in the mountains, there was another thing that had been bugging him: the constant nightmares that had been plaguing Matt in the night. Even after all they had been through after falling down, the sleepless nights hadn't stopped. Even in the cave they shared, Matt would toss and turn almost crying in the night. Who or what was "Watt", and what does it have to do with Matt?
Nathan had to ask, he had to find out! Matt seemed so close to him and yet there seemed to be this unseen distance. They were supposed to be comrades, or even "friends", but he knew close to nothing about Matt. The only clue he was ever given was the huge "X" shaped scar on Matt's back. There had to be more though, and he wanted to know more! He wanted to at least know some history to the only person that seemed half-way interesting in his life, and it would all start with one question.

"Hey? Sparks?" Nathan asked.
"Aww man, I was almost asleep too." Matt whined with a goofy smile on his face.
"What is it?" Matt responded, guessing that "Sparks" could only mean him.
"Who is Watt?" Nathan asked while still on his back.
Matt's eyes slammed open and his smile immediately turned to one of seriousness. He got up and began to walk away, making fast strides.
"Come on, the river shouldn't be far from here, right?" Matt said without turning back.
To keep from losing sight of him through the dense woods, Nathan had to jump up and chase after him.
"Matt! Answer me!" Nathan said as he followed after the small chu.
"What?" Matt responded.
"Who is Watt?!" Nathan asked again.
"How should I know?" Matt answered quickly, breaking past another round of bushes.
"That's not what I sense. You're hiding something." Nathan pried.
"How can I hide something I know nothing of?" Matt said in a growing, irritated voice as he scanned the woods for anything indicating of a river.
"You kept saying "Watt" in your nightmares." Nathan said in a serious voice.
"Like I said, I don't know what you're talking about. Now let's see if we…" Matt began.
"No! Quit changing the subject!" Nathan exclaimed as he grabbed Matt by the shoulder.
"You keep having nightmares that leave you tossing and turning at night, waking up drenched in sweat!" Nathan yelled.
"Everyone has nightmares every once in a while, it's normal." Matt responded.
"It's not normal to moan other's names in your sleep to the point of almost crying!" Nathan argued.
"Stop…" Matt said quietly.
"You made me promise that I wouldn't keep things in, but you won't trust me enough to let me in!" Nathan yelled in furious tone.
"There is nothing to let you in on!" Matt yelled.
"STOP LYING AND LET ME HELP YOU!" Nathan screamed.
"Nathan…just…" Matt began, before Nathan punched him straight in the face, causing him to stagger back.
Growling, Matt punched Nathan back in the gut then kicked him back. Being pushed back and rubbing his face, Nathan drew back and popped Matt in the cheek. The two slugged each other back and forth, bloodying their noses and gums. The smacks of each of their blows filled the air until Nathan drew back once more and saw Matt wasn't fighting seriously anymore. His arms had become weak and tears streamed down his face, dropping down his chin, and yet he continued to softly punch Nathan. Nathan no longer fought back, but let Matt punch him until he was out of energy and on his knees with his hands running through his head fur, pulling at it.
"Bui…I…I…" Matt coughed through sobs.
"Who is it?!" Nathan commanded, "Who is Watt?"
"He's my brother!" Matt screamed up at Nathan.
Well here it is! It may be a little bit bad since i am out of practice. But i promise to get back into the grove of things!
